Katie Williams

Registered Play Therapist

M. Child Play Therapy, B. Education Primary R-7

Katie is passionate and dedicated to supporting children to express their feelings, make sense of their experiences, and navigate their inner world through the language of play. She walks closely alongside families with empathy and care.

She began her career as an Early Childhood Educator before working as a Primary School Teacher and has since supported neurodivergent children as a School Inclusion Facilitator and within therapeutic environments. Her diverse experience includes working with children with ASD, ADHD, sensory processing disorder, speech and language delays, difficulties with emotional regulation and social development, non-verbal children; including those using augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) and families impacted by trauma through her role in social work

Katie holds a Master in Child Play Therapy and a Bachelor of Education/Arts, and is a Registered Play Therapist specialising in Humanistic Play Therapy, Filial Therapy, and the Learn to Play Program.

Her approach is gentle, relational, and grounded in an understanding of how connection shapes the developing brain. She is committed to creating a warm, nurturing, and safe space where children feel seen and valued, and can explore their inner world at their own pace; developing trusting relationships, strengthening regulation, and changing their self-perception as they become who they want to be.

Katie is passionate about play and the brain; how play powerfully supports the brain’s capacity to learn, connect, rewire, and grow. She loves the transformative power of play and believes it is an honour to witness moments of change; when a child finds newfound confidence, creatively solves a problem, masters a skill, or expresses joyful delight.

Living on Kaurna land near the beach, Katie enjoys walks along the seaside and spending time with her family; building cubbies, exploring waterfalls, camping, having picnics, and playing board games.
